Built in 1895, St Sophia Church in Galloway is Grade A listed and of Special Historic Interest.
Major structural problems which included the failure of the masonry supporting the dome and weak concrete supporting the purlins.
The arches were stabilised and circumferential chords of double HeliBars were used around each internal arch and then secured into the adjoining masonry. CemTies were then installed vertically into the brickwork above.
Load bearing beams were created using pairs of HeliBars around its complete 30m circumference above the top windows.
Cracked masonry near the corners of the front elevation was secured with 1m long CemTies.
